Overview

As part of the β€˜About Britain’ strand, Anglia TV paint a picture of the University city, exploring opinions on the value of an education at Cambridge for both men and women, the development of central Cambridge and the split between the academic role of the city and the local residents. The Cambridge Union invite Rt Hon Peter Shore, MP; Sir Roy Harrod; Mr William Davis, Editor of Punch and Sir John Peel, MEP to debate Britain’s membership of the EEC.

A picturesque view of some of the famous colleges in the city, including Kings College and the Chapel with an organist and the choir performing; Old Court at Corpus Christi College; the statue of Henry VIII at Trinity College; Downing College; Sir Christopher Wren’s Chapel at Emmanuel College; Girton College; Old Bridge, the Bridge of Sighs, New Court and Lower River Court at St Johns College, and Sidney Sussex College. Around the city we also visit the Cambridge University Library, the offices of Stop Press – a University Newspaper, The Cambridge Union Debating Society, Fitzwilliam Museum, the Guildhall and Cambridge’s Market Square.
