Overview

In December 1926 the Topical Budget newsreel cameras were in Melbourne, Australia to capture this record-breaking innings by Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales. Victoria were 573 for 1 overnight and, batting all day, were all out for 1,107. Although there are no shots of the scoreboard we do see the match in play, with Bill Ponsford, Jack Ryder and Bill Woodfull batting.

The previous record of 1,059 was also held by Victoria, set in a match against Tasmania in 1923.
