Overview

Even before the advent of the Welfare State, disability and impairment were strongly linked to the promotion of public health. This series of films from the 1920s emphasises the need to β€œcure” disabling conditions as early as possible, or a life of poverty and want could be the result. The now-dated terminology reflects the period.

Note: this film contains footage of a naked young woman being examined as a patient.
