        Overview

An amateur film of the 1936 Ashbourne horse show shot by Thomas Wright (1867-1943) who lived at nearby Kniveton. Mr Wright was accompanied in his film-making exploits by his chauffeur Wilfred Ratcliffe (who was also Kniveton's village barber) and between them they captured the essence of rural life in Derbyshire in the inter-war years on a large number of 8mm reels.
