Overview
Dr John Glyn Jones, a Brynsiencyn GP, and Dr Mair Jones (nee Humphreys), Assistant Medical Officer for Anglesey County Council, have become parents with the arrival of Annes at St David's Hospital, Bangor, 22/2/1952. As was the custom, on being taken home the new baby is carried off the hospital premises by a nurse. Before long there is another baby in the family: Annes visits her cousin – Haf Humphreys – born at Denbigh Infirmary 22/7/1954 and gives her a kiss of welcome.
Annes grew up to be a writer – Annes Glynn - producing novels and poetry, also working as an editor and translator and in corporate communications at Gwynedd Hospital. She won the Prose Medal at the 2004 National Eisteddfod. Her mother was from Denbigh (daughter of William and Annie Meirion Humphreys), her father from Nefyn where his parents – Evan Williams Jones and Catherine Jones – ran a general store after Evan, a ship's captain, had retired from the sea. John Glyn's uncle Robert J Jones [known as Robin] was the Nefyn pharmacist and recorded community life on film 1930s-40s. Inheriting his equipment, John Glyn continued filming 1940s-70s. Haf was the daughter of Mair's brother Gwilym and his wife Hetty.
