Crews Practising on River Lee at Cork Regatta (1902)

Edwardian oarsmen get some last minute practice in before the big race.

Non-Fiction 1902 1 mins Silent

Overview

This is one of three films in the Mitchell and Kenyon collection taken during 1902's Cork Regatta. The crews shown are in training for the International Regatta, whose final was attended by an estimated 80,000 spectators and won by Leander, who beat rivals Berlin by a length. A sailing boat and paddle steamer add texture to this slice of life on the Edwardian water.
