Overview
Amateur record of the 1938 fete in the seaside town of Cromer, Norfolk, showing a really ambitious, varied and fun-filled range of activities with the highlights; Cromer fire engine service demo, a Charlie Chaplin impersonator on a mini motorcycle, The Fearless Horsemen - "the world's most daring display", and of course the Cromer Beauty Queen competition, which in this year the title was awarded to Miss Bone.
Arthur Gowing, a Cromer resident, filmed many local events in the late 1930s in the town on 8mm film. The Cromer Fete is now known as the Cromer Carnival, with an annual fair reportedly being held in Cromer since 1285.
