        Croydon Flyover

Shot only five years after its opening, this film showcases the Croydon Flyover in all its concrete glory.

        Overview

The Croydon Flyover was a much needed solution to congestion in post-war Croydon, but not necessarily an example of town planning at its best. The film shows the new road snaking towards the Town Centre and 'NestlΓ© Tower' but also remnants of historic Croydon. Over the Fire Station we glimpse St. John the Baptist church and get a better view of Croydon Library and Clocktower than can be seen today.

This film is from the collection of Museum of Croydon, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
