Employees at White Cross & Co. Ltd Wire Works, Warrington (1900)
Home time for grateful workers in a Cheshire factory.
Overview
A mainly young workforce pours out of the Works Entrance of a factory. This Cheshire town grew during the Industrial Revolution and wire manufacture was well established: Whitecross dates back to 1864. Look out for the boy who approaches the camera waving his right hand in apparent imitation of the hand-cranking movements of the cameraman. As ever, the camera provokes unruly behaviour.
