The Great and the Good meet the Guide Dogs.

        Overview

The Great and the Good gather to open a Guide Dogs training centre. With it’s rather traditionalist emphasis on a royal presence, this short promotional film made by Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in 1965 still gives a useful insight into how guide dogs are trained. Assistance dogs have a vital role in enabling Blind and partially sighted people to live independently in the community.

Assistance dogs are now trained to support disabled people with a wide range of disabilities and impairments, including people with hearing impairments and autism. The training methods and techniques described in the film are generally still in use today.
