Overview

This short film by James Hill was one of the much-loved Trade Test Colour Films, films acquired and broadcast by the BBC for the purposes of colour testing and analysis. Produced by BP, the film concerns a young girl who works in her father's petrol station in rural Italy, documenting her longing to attend the local funfair and the various characters she meets throughout the day.

The film was broadcast 185 times on the BBC during the late 1960s/early 1970s and was also the very last trade test colour film to be broadcast, at 2.30pm on 24 August 1973. Previously the film had won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject in 1961.
