Glasgow Gets to Work
Hold on tight for a joyous ride around 1935 Glasgow's bustling road, rail and river transport network in this Scottish educational film.

Overview
Travel back in time to 1935 and learn about Glasgow's transport network with the help of handy intertitles and maps. Steam trains puff through St Enochβs Station, trams and buses cart crowds of fans to Hampden Park for the Scottish Cup final, and ferries ferry horses and carts across the Clyde. Go underground at Kelvinbridge Subway station or tunnel your way under the river using now redundant rotundas. Alternatively, go overground on Glasgowβs beautiful bridges.
Made by SEFA (Scottish Educational Film Association), who formed in 1935 in order to promote the use of educational films and other visual aids in education. SEFA collaborated closely with the Scottish Film Council to achieve these aims, with joint publications on aspects of film in teaching, children's viewing habits, and use of the resources of the Scottish Central Film Library. During the Second World War, SEFA ran mobile cinema shows in rural areas for evacuees. After the war, they worked with the Scottish Film Council to make educational films depicting aspects of Scottish life. As such, the films would have been shown in classrooms throughout Scotland during the post-war era.
