Period drama 1910 8 mins Silent

Overview

This abbreviated version of the play features many of the most famous scenes, including Hamlet learning his father’s ghost has been seen, the players re-enacting the murder scene, Polonius’ death, Ophelia wandering into a river and Yorick’s skull.

Even so, this production from Italian company Cines is presented incomplete here, with the BFI’s surviving materials only representing 556ft from the 1,000ft original.
