Heart of a People - Scottish Festival

Take in the length and breadth of majestic Scotland in this vibrant amateur travelogue

Amateur film 1947 17 mins Silent

Overview

This whistle-stop tour of the length and breadth of Scotland, filmed in glorious Kodachrome, takes in its majestic cities, proud industrial heritage, breathtaking landscapes and rich folk traditions. Beginning just across the English border in the Cheviot hills, the journey continues along the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh for the first festival, through the industrial heartland of Clydeside and on to the Highlands. There are stops on the way to see traditional dancing ("who can resist the swing of the kilt?"), the Musselburgh carnival and the red gowns of the students of historic St Andrews.
