Overview

Carnival traditions are well documented in this short home movie filmed at Ilford in the late 1970s. The time-honoured Carnival Queen features and other notable parade floats are those of the Young Conservatives drumming up support for a human rights campaign and that of the recently founded ELHAP charity that supports disabled and disadvantaged children. Later at the funfair Pearly Queens are seen enjoying the day.
