Overview

A Giant Christmas pudding is paraded in Kingsbridge in aid of charity. The local Round Table have organised a collection in aid of a children’s charity. Round Table is an international organisation for men aged 18-45 with a Ladies Circle for partners. The social network attracts business people who help with local service and fundraising for the community in which they live and work. It would take a sizeable bottle of brandy to flambΓ© this pud but they seem to have managed!

Kingsbridge is a market town in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon and at the head of the Kingsbridge estuary near Salcombe. After the Norman Conquest the surrounding lands belonged to nearby Buckfast Abbey where the monks produced honey, beer and clotted cream, a tradition that endures in the mostly agricultural region today. Frequent markets and farms sell local produce often labelled with an abbot or a monk. Buckfast Abbey is still a working monastery with a community of Benedictine monks. Kingsbridge is the third largest town in the South Hams after Ivybridge and Totnes, seat of the local South Hams Council.
