Overview

Shops, housing, attractions, local industry - all are subject to the lens and commentary of a Kingston & District Cine Club member in this amatuer film. We wander to Bentalls, scorn bingo halls, lament the empty Empire Theatre, as well as hang around the Kingston's historic market, which, as the commentator notes, is protected by a famous charter granted by Charles I who, in 1628, gave Kingston the right to ban other markets within 7 miles.

This film is from the collection of Kingston Heritage Service, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
