Overview

A man's chance meeting with a woman leads to a summer of romance, however, their love is shortlived when it becomes apparent she is romantically linked to his best friend. Colchester Cine Club present this intriguing drama with a plot twist that declares the apparent love-cheat is in fact an identical twin sister! Cine Club participant Jenny Noon takes on the dual role playing each twin, facing herself in a tricky final scene that features the sisters taking tea together.

In the Spring of 1959 two keen amateur cinematographers, Don Leech and Eric Smith, placed a notice in the public library calling for like-minded filmmakers to attend a meeting at the Cross Keys Inn, Long Wyre Street. Some twenty to thirty people attended including ‘nine-fiver’ Charles Long, and it was on that day, 24th April 1959, the Colchester Cine Club was formed. Don Leech was voted as Chairman, and fortnightly meetings were to be held in a room over Eric Smith’s shop, ‘Photovogue’ on St. John’s Street. ‘Love Affair’ was a ‘club production’ and was screened at the Jenny Bone Studio in Colchester’s Mercury Theatre for the club’s ‘Home Movie Night’, November 1974.
