        Music Hall Act

Time for the Harlequinade: the traditional topsy-turvy act of the Christmas pantomime

Trick film 1915 1 mins Silent

        Overview

This harlequinade - a traditional topsy-turvy Christmas pantomime - is set on a stage street with a shop, whose sign reads "Von Muck - Pork Butcher". Harlequin and Columbine dance around (it's what they do), while Pantaloon and Clown cause general mayhem. Harlequin summons them up a crate with his magic bat (the slapstick), which he transforms into a sausage-making machine. The two grab the butcher and make him into strings of sausages amid general comic business. This short fragment ends with the traditional tableau of characters.
