Our collections are non-fiction, and date from the early 1900s to the present day, providing a rich record of life in the region over the 20th century. The news team records a down-to-earth day in the life of a passionate Sunderland gymnast as she trains on Roker beach and takes time off for a spot of romance in Mowbray Park. Monica Rutherford represented Britain in artistic gymnastics at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.
