Overview

The film documents country life from hay gathering and vineyards to street-market scenes in and the Basque town of St. Jean Pied de Port, located on the river Nive. The film concludes with a section on the centuries-old port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz located to the east of the Bay of Biscay and the resort of Biarritz.

Biarritz was made popular in the 1850s by French Emperor Napoleon III and his wife Empress Eugenie. The film includes the Grande Plage and the Casino Barriere de Biarritz.
