Overview

Queen Elizabeth II is only glimpsed briefly in this record of her trip to Oldbury on 23 April 1957. Even so, the unidentified film-maker manages to create an interesting film despite the lack of decent footage of the monarch. He drives along the route that the royal motorcade will take, capturing lovely images on the morning of the visit. Oldbury Mayor Alfred Gunn awaits the Queen nervously ready to present a titanium posy bowl (Prince Philip received a shooting stick).
