Overview

Although renowned for having the world’s biggest collection of motorcycle racing films, this C H Wood film of motor racing at Redcar sands, filmed for the fourth year in a row, remains a real rarity. Large numbers of spectators have turned out to see races for both motorcycles and cars, from 600cc to 4500cc, taking us back to an era when racing at the sands of Saltburn and Redcar was an annual event. Among the highlights is G Brown breaking the flying kilometre record at 136 mph.
