Amateur film 1958 7 mins Silent

Overview

This entertaining short film from 1958, shot by teacher Joe Brearley, appears to capture almost a whole season of athletics for the Hackney Downs School Cadets. Opening with a comedy moment featuring a couple of teachers grappling with some paperwork, the film see the Cadets in training on the grass track in front of the school. They then test their mettle at the London Grammar Schools Sports finals at White City and in other competitions on grass tracks.

The latter scenes of the film, after the finals at White City, most likely took place at the school's playing fields in Edmonton and at Eton Manor Sports ground.
