Strangers

A Deaf teenager is finally heard when an interpreter visits his family home

Drama 2012 12 mins

Overview

Christopher's relationship with his parents is suffering. Their inability to sign means communication is a struggle and has led to a lack of understanding about him. When an interpreter visits, his parents realise they've only been relating to him on the surface. With her help, Christopher is finally able to ask some important questions and demonstrate how he feels. Brian Duffy's drama is an important look at the isolation deaf children can feel when their communication needs aren't properly understood.

The film was produced through British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust's short film initiative Zoom.
