The Eisteddfod
Newsreel capturing the Welsh festival at Pwllheli, including the procession of the Bards
Overview
The hills are alive in this fascinating snapshot of an eisteddfod at Pwllheli, which includes glimpses of the procession, women in Welsh national dress, and a peace ritual performed by attending druids.
The ritual is performed by the Gorsedd of Bards (the association of druids), and includes a member calling the people from the four corners of the land together with a trumpet, before chanting the Gorsedd prayer. The Archdruid (the elected leader) then withdraws the Grand Sword from its sheath three times and cries, "Is there peace?" The assembly replies, "Peace".
