Overview
Alan Stingemore's fascinating film about a trip on the Waverley starts with the arrival of the paddle steamer at Whitsable to collect passengers. A band of naval cadets plays tunes onboard throughout the film as we pass numerous ships, which toot in salute, as well as various landmarks like Greenwich, the Thames Flood Barrier and Tower Bridge - through which the Waverley has to pass while the bridge is raised. We also get a rare opportunity to visit the ship’s engine room.
