Workforce of Storey's White Cross Mills, Lancaster (1902)
A great surge of workers pushes through the gates of a Lancashire mill.
Overview
The filmmakers, or their showmen colleagues, clearly persuaded the first wave of workers coming through the gates of the White Cross Mills to make their exit at a run. It certainly looks impressive, though the rest, all men and boys, are calmer. The Storey brothers had began producing oil cloth and baize at the mill when the bottom fell out of the cotton market in the mid-19th century.
