Overview

The Brothers Quay take on the Babylonian epic of Gilgamesh, presenting the character as a childlike figure who sets a series of vicious traps to catch Enkidu, the guileless forest creature.

The animated short was originally planned as a section within an hour-long Channel Four programme on Gilgamesh, which would combine live-action, dance, animation and documentary elements. The Brothers Quay segment was funded as a pilot but was the only portion ultimately produced.
