Review of the Life Guards by Her Majesty the Queen

Spot the Queen, as she bids farewell to part of the Household Cavalry before they head off to the Anglo-Boer war

Non-Fiction 1899 2 mins

Overview

A camera-shy Queen, or a shy cameraman? Victoria's not easy to spot in this film, nestled in a carriage on the left-hand side of the screen. But we do have a prime perspective on the parading First and Second Life Guards of the Household Cavalry. The occasion was not ceremonial, but a Royal blessing to troops who were soon to head off to South Africa to fight in the Anglo-Boer War.

A second film, Dispersing The Troops At Windsor After Parade, was taken on the same occasion.
