Alice, Darling
A young woman (Oscar-nominee Anna Kendrick, Up In the Air) is forced to examine her emotionally abusive relationship when she takes a rare trip with friends.
Director: Mary Nighy
Overview
When Alice (Kendrick) is invited to celebrate a birthday at a lakeside house, the extent of her abusive relationship soon becomes all too apparent to childhood friends Tess and Sophie. Stalked by phone pings from her boyfriend Simonβs constant messaging and driven to literally tearing her hair out, her worried friends stage an intervention. However, Simon wonβt be ignored so easily.
Mary Nighyβs debut feature film tackles a subject rarely seen on screen β an abusive relationship that doesnβt leave visible bruises, but one that is equally devastating. A quietly compelling drama with a deeply vulnerable performance from Kendrick at its heart.
