Grand Union Canal
Follow working narrow boats as they make their 60-hour trip from London to Birmingham along Britain's longest industrial waterway.
Overview
Travel the longest industrial waterway in England! Once a major transport thoroughfare for British industry, the Grand Union stretches nearly 290 miles, connecting Birmingham, Nottingham, Northampton, Leicester, Loughborough, Warwick and Derby with London and the continent. By the time this film was being made, modernity was creeping in, with mechanical horses and the North Circular Road. But there were still uses for a more sedate transport service.
