Overview

Saturday 22nd July 1954 saw the marriage of newly qualified dentist Dick Catchpole to his sweetheart, Angela Scholey at St Margaret's Church, Old Fletton, Peterborough. Stylish family and friends gathered at the church and afterwards at the nearby home of Mr and Mrs Scholey for the Reception in the garden and the chance to see the traditional display of wedding presents. The film is courtesy of amateur film enthusiast and father of the groom, Cyril Catchpole.

Dick met his future wife by chance after a romantic assignation by London's Albert Memorial was scuppered by London smog. Unable to find his date, he attended a concert at the Royal Albert Hall where he sat next to Angela. Their wedding in 1954 was the start of many happy years together and 3 children. Dick practised as a dentist in Kew then moved to Oundle. They parted sadly when Angela died in 2004, just 2 weeks before their Golden Wedding. This film serves as a treasured momento to a very special day and start of a wonderful life together.
