Return of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (1901)
Soldiers returning from the Boer War get a warm welcome home from crowds in Edwardian Birmingham.
Overview
Cameras are placed at various viewpoints, some raised and others at street level, to cover soldiers from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and their police escort marching into Birmingham's Victoria Square in May 1901. The massed crowds are largely corralled behind barriers, and some later complained about the poor views. No such problems, though, faced Mitchell and Kenyon's cameramen.
