Mining Review 23rd Year No. 1
Welcome aboard 'Futuro', a spherical 'space house' for the 1970s.
Overview
In this eclectic edition of industrial cinemagazine Mining Review, Liverpudlians marvel at the futuristic spherical dwelling 'Futuro', one of the main attractions of the 1969 Liverpool Show. Meanwhile in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, Pauline Ann Lake's physical attributes secure her first prize in the Coalmining National Beauty Contest Semi-finals. "Hold it fellas - she's already married" quips the commentator.
The whistle-stop tour of National Coal Board activities also takes in the Allerton Bywater Colliery Training Centre in South East Leeds and the Northern Brick Company's headquarters in Throckley, just a stone's throw from Newcastle Airport.
