Overview

The 1957 Tour was won by Stan Brittain, a cyclist of repute, who had won silver at the previous year's Olympic games as part of the British Men's Team Road Race. The film shows various sections of the race, from the start outside a bustling Belfast City Hall, through numerous streets and towns, all the way to the finish line.

The North West 200 course is a closed street circuit, made up of public roads running between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush. In 1957, Sammy Millar won the 250cc race, Bob Anderson the 350cc and Jack Brett the 500cc.
