The Wedding of Kathleen and Idris
Beautiful but unusual wedding film in that a pig makes a brief and unexpected appearance, and the bridesmaids appear to be going off on honeymoon with the bride and groom.
From the collection of:
Overview
Wedding of Idris Jones of Bedlwyn farm, Treuddyn, near Mold, and Kathleen Stoddard on a cold, breezy April day at St Garmon's Church, Llanarmon-yn-IΓ’l. Once married, a pig makes an unexpected appearance and the bride and groom lead their guests down the church path to the Old School Room nearby where a beautifully iced, 3-tier cake awaits. They are then seen getting into a car with their bridesmaids and being driven off, a silver horseshoe hanging in the back window.
Bombs on the Wirral in 1940 forced the Crawfords to relocate, their holiday home in Llanarmonβyn-IΓ’l providing a safe haven. William H T Crawford, father of the family and an ingenious inventor, was an engineer who worked for Briggs, a haulage contractor in Liverpool. He also enjoyed shooting and editing film footage of family events and life in the Llanarmon/Llanferres area, including this local wedding.
