The East Anglian Film Archive, the first and largest Regional Film Archive in England, was established in 1976. Since 1984, EAFA has been owned and operated by the University of East Anglia, Norwich (UEA), to support research and work to preserve our moving image heritage. More than 250 hours are freely available online as examples of the wide range of film which attracts interest the world over.

Overview
Amateur filmmaker Herbert Smerdon and party take day trips exploring the English county of Suffolk, visiting many of the pretty villages and small towns, occasionally stopping to picnic in the open air, crop lavender, or feed a horse. Many of the places visited lie close to the Essex border in the Stour Valley region.
The villages featured in this footage are; East Bergholt, Layer Marney, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Bungay, Lavenham, Long Melford, Aldeburgh, Sandlings, Polstead, Framlingham, Cavendish, Rendlesham, Snape, Thorpeness, Oulton Broad, Gorleston, and Southwold.
