Overview

September agricultural shows: Wenvoe and Margam & Pyle. Reginald G Iles, a founder member of The South Wales and Monmouthshire Agricultural and Horse Shows Association, opens the film with footage of the associationโ€™s honorary treasurer at leisure, hunting rabbits with spaniels. The shire horses, pigs, sheep, ponies and prize-winning beetroot of the shows follow and a closing inter-title advocates membership of the association: โ€œIt will be to your advantageโ€.

Reginald George Iles worked in the Bonus Department of Imperial Tobacco in Cardiff but outside of work filmed local shows for the association of which he was a founder member. He would screen the films in Cardiff (e.g. at the Park Hotel) and elsewhere in the area during the winter months. His two daughters were keen horse-riders, and the family moved from Cardiff (Heathwood Road) to Trebettyn farm in Cowbridge in 1948 in order to develop their interest. Both became horse breeders in later life.
