Walton on the Naze Carnival
An early Kodacolor film of the 1935 carnival at Walton-on-the-Naze, a resort town on the Essex coast; including the Lifeboat Procession.

Overview
An amateur record of carnival day in Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex in 1935. The main attraction of the carnival procession is a βPageant of Transportβ, with horse-drawn carriages and motor cars passing along the seafront; the street lined with people. There is also a shot of Waltonβs pier, with a paddle steamer docked at the end. The footage continues with a Lifeboat Procession; with all floats of a nautical theme, fitting for a resort town on the North Sea Coast.
First available to amateur filmmakers in 1928 Kodacolor film worked as a result of a system of filters attached to the camera in filming and the projector in exhibition. Developed Kodacolor film is monochrome in appearance, it is only when projected through the appropriate colour filters that the appearance of natural colour is reproduced. The Walton-on-the-Naze carnival would have been the ideal subject for this brand new colour film system, Kodacolor.
