Four Daughters
The mother-daughter relationship is explored to cathartic effect in this complex and poignant hybrid documentary about a woman and her missing daughters.
Director: Kaouther Ben Hania
Overview
In this astonishing piece of filmmaking, director Kaouther Ben Hania blends documentary and fiction to tell the story of Olfa and her four daughters. Some years earlier, the two older daughters disappeared. Bringing in actors to play the missing daughters and combining direct interviews with re-enactments, the result is a joyful yet often devastating meditation on motherhood, rebellion and sisterhood.
