Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The trailblazing cult musical about a transgender punk from East Germany who reinvents herself as a rock diva.
Director: John Cameron Mitchell
Overview
Hansel wants to marry an American soldier to get a US passport and flee East Germany, but when his sex re-assignment surgery goes wrong, she (now Hedwig) is left with an inch of skin between her legs (the angry inch). And so she does what anyone would do in this situation: she re-invents herself as a rock diva. This is the stuff that trailblazing cult musicals are made of; a great rock soundtrack, ultimate camp and real heart.
