I've Loved You So Long
The stunning, BAFTA-winning drama stars Kristin Scott Thomas as an ex-con starting afresh after a fifteen-year prison sentence.
Director: Philippe Claudel
Overview
Juliette (Kristin Scott Thomas) hasn’t seen the world in fifteen years. After a long prison sentence, she is reunited with her sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein) and slowly steps back into her life – but with hesitation. Outbursts of bitterness and anxiety overtake her as she re-enters society, but Lea is determined to guide her with love and understanding even if the road isn’t always smooth.
Winner of the BAFTA for Best Film Not in the English Language, writer-director Philippe Claudel’s drama is a nuanced and unpredictable character study of a woman accused of the unforgivable – but slowly learning to accept forgiveness. The film plays out like a novel, with scenes picking back layers of Juliette before exploring her vulnerability and heart. Scott Thomas was nominated for several awards for her performance, including a Golden Globe for Best Actress (Drama).
