Ben Whishaw stars in an intimate portrait of two strangers brought together by the common language of grief.
Director: Hong Khaou
Overview
Ben Whishaw stars in this intimate portrait of two strangers brought together by tragedy. Reeling from the death of his lover Kai, Richard (Ben Whishaw) reaches out to Kaiβs mother Junn (Crouching Tigerβs Cheng Pei Pei), a Chinese-Cambodian woman who has never assimilated in London. Despite Junnβs ignorance of her late sonβs sexuality and a deep distrust of Richard, the pair forge an uneasy bond and shared understanding.
This delicate and tenderly played drama was produced under the auspices of the Microwave film scheme (supported by the BFI), and went on to win Best Cinematography at Sundance Film Festival before being selected as the opening film of BFI Flare 2014.
