More Than Ever
Vicky Krieps and the late Gaspard Ulliel star in this moving story of a terminally ill woman’s decision to take her life back into her own hands.
Director: Emily Atef
Overview
Hélène’s life has been turned upside down following a diagnosis of a rare lung disease. Although her husband and friends try to support her, she feels adrift. Seeking answers online, she stumbles upon a Norwegian blogger, Mister, who documents his own illness with mordant humour. As their friendship develops, Hélène visits Mister and finds herself reinvigorated by his outlook on life and the stunning vistas of Norway. But while she’s found a new lease of life and an acceptance of death, Hélène’s relationship with her husband feels ever distant. Devastating but never overwrought – that this is Ulliel’s final film adds another note of poignancy – More Than Ever presents a moving and intimate depiction of a couple’s relationship. By the time it ends, there won’t be a dry eye in the house.
