Overview

Relive the stratospheric rise of the kings of Britpop, whose three-year reign brought alternative rock crashing from the margins into the mainstream. Charting the band’s incredible story, from being spontaneously signed at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in 1993 to their history-making shows at Knebworth in 1996, Supersonic is a rousingly nostalgic return to the days of Cool Britannia and the Gallagher brothers’ world-strutting swagger.

Directed by Mat Whitecross (Spike Island, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) and produced by the team behind Amy (Asif Kapadia, James Gay-Rees) Supersonic utilises the same successful format from that film, blending archive footage with hilariously candid recollections from Liam, Noel, band members, observers and assorted hangers-on. The result is a riotously enjoyable testament to one of Britain’s last great rock β€˜n’ roll stories.
