Overview
Gelsomina is a typically frustrated teenager, wearied by her seemingly pleasant, rustic existence on her family’s bee-keeping farm. Unexpectedly, she drags her family into 21st-century modernity by unwittingly entering them into a bizarre TV talent show.
The distinctive, thoroughly strange yet matter-of-fact atmosphere of this offbeat fairytale is difficult to describe and effortlessly enchanting. It also reaffirms director Alice Rohrwacher (Corpo Celeste) as one of Italian cinema’s major new talents.
