                    Helen PG rating

An inventive and acclaimed British feature following the transformation of a teenager who agrees to portray her missing college friend in a highly detailed crime reconstruction.

                    Thriller 2009 75 mins

Director: Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor

                    Overview

This highly original and inventive British feature won acclaim from critics such as Jonathan Romney and Mark Kermode. When college girl Joy goes missing, her classmate Helen is hired to portray her final movements in an extensive police reconstruction. As Helen becomes more immersed in the role she begins to realise the marked differences between her own disadvantaged upbringing in a care home and Joy’s once comfortable home life.

This extraordinary debut feature from Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor is a continuation of themes explored in their Civic Life series of short films (2003-10).
