Overview

Walerian Borowczyk's (The Beast, Immoral Tales) first feature-length work is an existential soap opera that eschews dialogue (for the
most part) and conventional narrative to evoke the highs and lows of married life. Set in a barren wasteland thinly populated by exotic flora and fauna, it follows the struggles of diminutive Mr Kabal against his domineering, monstrous wife, rendered in sparse, coarse
and mainly monochrome graphics.

The culmination of a remarkable sequence of animated shorts, before his move into live-action features, Mr. and Mrs. Kabal's Theatre finds Borowczyk at his most inventive, cynical and provocative. The result is bizarre, grotesque and strangely moving.
