Silent Roar
On the Isle of Lewis, a passionate surfer and his sweetheart have dreams of escaping in this charming comedy with echoes of Bill Forsyth.
Director: Johnny Barrington
Overview
Jonny Barrington's sweet-natured Scottish comedy charts the on-off relationship between Dondo (Louis McCartney), a young surfer struggling to accept his father has died in a fishing accident, and Sas (Ella Lily Hyland), a high-achiever dreaming of escape. While at the same time, a recently returned preacher (Mark Lockyer) tries to instil his maverick doctrine upon the community.
Skye-born filmmaker Barrington has crafted a charming comedy chock full of eccentric characters and offbeat whimsy, imbued with the spirit of Bill Forsyth and the windswept island humour of classics like Whiskey Galore! Silent Roar was made with the support of the BFI, awarding National Lottery funding.
